HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMS HOWL’s homeschool programs run for eight weeks, meeting once a week to explore natural areas in Northern Michigan. Every week HOWL enjoys learning in nature that is drawn from the forests, rivers, and wildlife of Northern Michigan. Students explore through art, drama, and science, and they take action to care for the natural world around them.

Two age groups mean every child gets a program built just for them:

Forest Kindercamp is for our Wild Cubs Pack. This program is for ages 4–6 and goes from 10:00–12:00.

Forest Adventurers is for our Wild Wolf Pack. This weekly program is for ages 6–10 and meets from 12:30-3:30.

Our Program: Sign in- Welcome Circle- Game- Hike the Trails- Art and Craft Activity and/or Science Activity- Game- Closing Circle

On the Hike: Science activities, games, observation time, sketching, drawing, and note taking.

FAQ

Am I able to attend the program with my child? Yes, you are welcome to attend.

What is the drop in rate? $35 per class for Forest Adventurers and $20 for Forest Kindercamp

When is payment due? We prefer two weeks before the program starts, but require partial payment before the first class. Payment options are available if needed.

Can I get a refund? If you cancel a week before the class starts, yes you can have a refund. We guarantee our program though, so if your child is not happy after their first day- we will refund your tuition minus the $10 registration fee.

What do I need to pack? You will receive a welcome to the program letter before the session begins full of information. We will also share our Family and Youth Handbook via email that has good information.

What is the ratio of instructors to children? For our Forest Adventures we stay at 1:8 or lower. For Forest Kindercamp we keep it to 1:5. This means that we limit our Forest Adventures to 14-16 participants and Forest Kindercamp to 10. We also have parent volunteers that help. Anyone who is with the children has a background check done with ICHAT. Instructors and Directors have full background checks.
